Green Sand Beach on The Big Island
Green Sand Beach, on the Big Island... It's possibly the most stunning beach you will ever see! The sand is actually made of olivine crystals, giving it the beautiful green color.
This magnificent beach is located in Ka'u, on the most southern tip of the Big Island. Unless you have a four wheel drive, you have to hike on a trail through about 2 miles of hills and tall grass.
Once you get to the end of the trail, you are at the top of a tall cliff looking down at the cresant shaped beach. It is truly breathtaking! (There is a trail going down to the beach, don't worry.) Generally, the beach is not crowded. You may be lucky enough to have it all to yourself, or share to it with just a couple other visitors.
