Things To Do In Hawaii Daytime
There are lots of things to do in Hawaii in the daytime. No matter what your interests are, or your age.....there is something for everybody.
One of the many things to do in Hawaii, that a lot of people enjoy, is going to the farmers markets found all over the Islands. You can find unique things, at good prices. Expect to see exotic fruits and vegetables you have never seen before......flowers in a rainbow of colors.....hand made shell and stone jewelry.....and Hawaiian style clothing.
For outdoors-y people, Hawaii offers many activities. Imagine.... hiking through a lush tropical forest, hearing birdsongs you have never heard before, seeing huge trees bearing exotic friuts and flowers, while vines drape to the ground. Or, hiking across lava in Valcano National Park, to see ancient petroglyphs, the lava flow of Kiluea, or rare hawaiian monk seals.
Imagine camping.... on a beautiful beach, right on the waters edge, falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, while stars glitter above you. Or, hiking into Waipio Valley to see the wild horses, and camping on the black sand at the valley shore.
For bike riders, Hawaii offers a spectacular experience. Tour vans can drive you to the top of mountain roads so that you can ride for miles and miles, to the bottom of the volcanoes. This is a thrill that is hard to forget.
For animal lovers, there are zoo’s on both Oahu and the Big Island. The Hilo Zoo is a nice little zoo and there are lots of neat animals. Hawaiian native plants and flowers, a Butterfly Zoo, and a petting farm are also fun to see there. Many people go just to see Namaste, the rare white tiger.
For those who like history, there are many interesting museums here. There are Volcano, Astronomy, and Tsunami Museums on the Big Island, and most of the Islands have Museums of Ancient Hawaii and Plantation Era Hawaii. You can see the capes worn by the Hawaiian royalty, that are made of feathers from now extinct birds......ancient Hawaiian Artifact.... pictures of Hawaiian Royalty, Stuffed Marlin, and more. To learn about specific museums, check out the links at the bottom of this page.
If you are interested in rare and unique plants, you could go to the many botanical gardens that are found on all the Islands. Take a leisurely walk through tropical greenery, studded with lush colorful flowers. Some of these exotic plants are very unusual.....taking shapes and form that you may have never seen before.
One thing you may least expect to be able to do in Hawaii, is snow ski. On the top of Mauna Kea, and sometimes Mauna Loa, on the Big Island, there is a blanket of snow in the winter. At about 7000 feet the snowline begins, and skiers and snow boarders can enjoy their sport.
Whale watching and swimming with dolphins are popular things to do in Hawaii, especially in late winter. Tour boats take groups to get a close-up view of these awe inspiring creatures. Also, there are places on the Big Island, such as Kielakekua Bay, where the dolphins come to have their babies in early spring. Some people like to rent kayaks and paddle out to see them.
There are many things to do in Hawaii. One of the most obvious, in this tropical paradise, is to go to the beach. The beach offers surfing, boogie boarding, swimming, romping, and the opportunity to get a great tan. The beach is always fun to go to. For information about specific beaches, go to
