The North Shore is where all the surfers go, so this is a great place to watch surfers,(or go surfing, if you're experienced.)Swimming in the ocean on this side of the island is not as good during the wintertime, because the waves can get pretty big.
It is a bit isolated, and is about an hours drive away from Waikiki. While some people enjoy this kind of calm, serene, naturey kind of vacation, others prefer to be closer to the action. (If you want places to shop, fine dining, and entertainment, you might want to chose a place closer to Waikiki.)But, most people who stay here have a wonderful time, and can't stop raving about it.
